I know I shouldn't have fretted so much, but you have to understand How intimidating you all were, even as fresh escapees from the mind flayers. I'm just glad I found my feet swiftly.
It seemed the sort of term you'd gravitate toward. I like to think I know my favorite wizard after so long.
I think we all had good reason to remain guarded, given our situation, it's only that some of us were forced to come clean sooner than others. I was in dire need of everyone's aid, as you'll recall, and once the hunger struck, there was no hiding it.
Ah, I'm quite flattered to hear I've been given such a title! Of course, I shouldn't be surprised; you do have exquisite taste in company.
I remember. It kept me up many nights, worrying if there'd be anything I could do for you.
[That's a new confession. And then quickly, as if realizing so...]
Karlach too of course. We all of us are such a mess of circumstances.
[Ahem.]
It's heartening to hear that there's a place for each of us. I daresay I'm making a decent Harper now it's all said and done. I'm itching to travel again though. Soon. When Balder's Gate can manage its own repairs a little better...Maybe once Wyll and Karlach have returned.
[He cannot help but smile to himself at that confession, even given the follow-up; they were all in serious need of aid in one way or another, and so it stood to reason that they all came to worry about one another in turn, but even so...
It's touching. Perhaps he's thinking too much of it, but the fact remains.]
I am sorry to have caused you such worry, but grateful to know you thought I was worth worrying about, rather than being a burden. I was up many nights wondering when I might find myself ejected from camp, with the lot of you having decided I wasn't worth the trouble anymore.
I can't say I'm surprised to find your feet long for the open road once more, though Baldur's Gate has been quite fortunate to have you in its service. Perhaps Jaheira could be persuaded to send you on a mission up the coast, if you so long for travel. We see our share of Harpers in Waterdeep, as well!
Ejected?? That never once crossed my mind. Some of the others fussed but it's not as though their troubles were any less dangerous. Simply less...sudden. Than yours was. And by the end of it I think they'd have slapped their old selves to even think they might have once considered it.
Possibly not Astarion. He'd do anything to remain contrary. But even he's doing well these days. I see him often enough under cover of night. It just isn't the same, sleeping in a bunk with the other Harper recruits rather than in camp with all of you.
Once I complete my current mission, I'll ask her. You'll have to let me know if there's anything worth stopping for to see on my way up the coast. Especially if it's a treat for Tara. I'm determined to win her over some day.
