He grins broadly, nudging the basket towards her to indicate that she should help herself.]
We've had quite a wearisome last few days, by my measure. We're owed a sweet bit of reprieve, if you ask me. It's nothing compared to what I'd be able to do in my own kitchen, but not bad for having little more than a campfire to work with, if I do say so myself.
We do deserve that, I think. For this one, they’ll just have to do without.
[Nepione doesn’t seem to disapprove of this idea. Even less so when he’s inviting her to help herself. She takes little invitation more to lean over and reach in to claim one of the fruit tarts that he’s made. After a moment’s consideration, she offers it over to him. They should eat them together, shouldn’t they?
Then she reaches for the other one with a satisfied smile.]
I think for not having a kitchen available to you, this is really impressive. Of course, that’s coming from someone who can just barely hold a piece of meat over a fire and cook it.
[At least she’s not inclined to overcook it.]
Whenever you cook for us, though, it’s been good. Maybe I’m just not used to eating well.
